Several scholarships available for students interested in horticulture and agriculture.

4/15 Oregon Association of Nurseries $1,500 
Students preparing for a career in ornamental horticulture and related fields.  Student scholarship applications are evaluated based on career interests, scholastic aptitude, and financial need. 

4/15 Clackamas Community Foundation Scholarship varies
Variety of scholarships for different majors and financial situations.

4/15 Schweiger Memorial Scholarship Fund Varies
This scholarship program aims to advance the education and career goals of outstanding students and apprentices in the construction and engineering industry in the Pacific Northwest. Also includes a paid summer internship

4/17 Oregon Jaycee Foundation Scholarship $4,000 
Selection criteria is academic excellence, personal accomplishments, leadership and community service.

Five awards of $1,000 each
Awarded to students who are pediatric cancer survivors and are interested in pursing higher education.

4/20 LaVerne Bagley Brown HBCU Scholarship:
Graduating High School Senior
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
Must be attending a 4-year historically black college or university (HBCU) in the upcoming Fall 2026 semester

4/20 Roberta Vann Scholarship:
Graduating High School Senior
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
Must be attending a 4-year college or university in the upcoming Fall 2026 semester



4/26 PCSF Scholarships:
Awards range from $500 to $3000
Be at least 25% of Chinese ethnicity

​4/30: Dr. George Washington Carver Academic Excellence Scholarship $500
Awarded to college-bound male-identifying high school seniors from communities underrepresented in higher education who demonstrate financial need.

5/11 Portland Business Forum Scholarship:
Five awards of $25,00 each
All enrolled seniors in the top 50 percent of their class at Tigard high schools who plan to continue their education at the postsecondary level are eligible.
5/14 Shlesinger & deVilleneuve Scholarship:
Two awards of $1,500 each

Two Awards of 2,500 each

Essay of 1,000 words of less: references your academic accomplishments, awards, community service, and any obstacles , especially obstacles 
related to immigration
6/15 ​Portland Relocation Council Scholarship ($2000):

​A Few Tips:
Be sure your name is typed exactly as it is on your Social Security Card (for FAFSA)
Use your personal email address (not THS email address!)
When inviting a Contributor (parent/guardian) be sure the information is typed identically to the information entered when your contributor creates their account (FAFSA)
Not sure if you should complete the ORSAA or the FAFSA. Find out which form you are eligible for HERE

There are several upcoming PWA Career Days that we want to share with you. We have set aside some seats for students from non-partner school districts.

How to attend:
Step 1: Fill out the student interest form ASAP. (Type your email address and cell number carefully so we can reach you!)
Step 2: Have your parent/guardian fill out the parent/guardian permission form ASAP. (Your application can’t be considered until this is done.) Students who do this early have much better luck at being accepted.
Step 3: PWA will contact you to let you know if you’re accepted or waitlisted, or if the career day is full.
Step 4: Show up and have an amazing time!

Who can attend:
High school students in the Portland metro area are encouraged and welcome to apply. We prioritize students from our partner school districts when space is limited (Gresham-Barlow, North Clackamas, Parkrose Portland Public Schools, Reynolds, Oregon Charter Academy).

ThinkBIG Program with Peterson Cat
Application due June 1
ThinkBIG is a Caterpillar-specific instructional program that pays you while you train to become a technician. Once accepted into this two-year program, you alternate between the classroom and a paid employment at Peterson. When you graduate, you will have an Associate Degree from PCC in Applied Science, over 2000 hours of on the job experience at Peterson, and continue with a full-time job.

​Electrical JATC 4-Year Apprenticeship Program
Full-Ride Opportunity ! 

Applications are due May 4, 2026 (in person at Area 1 JATC).

High School students in Washington County are invited to apply for a scholarship with the Area One Inside Electrical JATC 4 year apprenticeship program to become a General Journeyman Electrician. 

This is an incredibly valuable opportunity to skip the points-based traditional ranking process and gain Direct Entry into this apprenticeship program. This full-tuition scholarship covers the cost of books and classroom training while recipients earn paid, hands-on experience in the electrical trade. Apprentices begin employment at a competitive starting wage and receive structured training through the Area 1 Inside Electrical JATC Training Centers.

​Free Apprenticeship Program

Impact NW offers a FREE Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship program open to Oregon residents aged 17- 24 who have a GED or high school diploma and are interested in the Manufacturing trades. 

​Participants will gain:
Welding Experience
OSHA 10 certificate
Forklift certificate
CPR/ First Aid Certificate
Certified Manufacturing Associate 
Hands-on experience building and designing their own skateboard
CAD design and 3D printing
Exploring local-based careers, apprenticeships, and post-education

Virtual Shadowing Opportunity (Medical Field)
Interested in a career in healthcare? Virtual Shadowing offers online job shadowing experiences designed to help future healthcare professionals explore careers in medicine.


Through recorded sessions led by active clinicians, students can gain insight into the work of physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants/associates. Students can watch the sessions at their own pace and explore a wide range of healthcare topics, from the application process to real clinical case discussions. After completing a session, students may take an online exam. Those who pass with a score of 70% or higher can print a Certificate of Completion. 

You can enter these Sessions under the "healthcare activities/experiences" for most college and graduate program applications and in your CV. (Please note Different programs may certainly categorize these online hours of healthcare experience in different ways)

SCHOOL YEAR STUDY ABROAD OPPORTUNITIES
School Year Abroad (SYA) is a nonprofit organization focused on providing immersive study abroad programs to high school students. With over 8,500 alumni since 1964, SYA is a school fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Founded upon a yearlong study abroad model, SYA now operates three campuses in France, Italy and Spain, and has expanded to provide full academic year, semester and summer programs designed to develop skills for an increasingly interdependent world. SYA's yearlong program remains the only secondary-level option allowing students to live with a host family for an entire academic year while    earning U.S. graduation credits and preparing for admission to selective U.S. colleges and universities.
